Updating Our Company Reviews
By Joshua Levy, 05/17/2007 - 11:55am

At the beginning of this year, we released our Consumer Guide to Software-as-a-Service Providers, which features reviews and ratings of the major companies providing campaign tools and services. Now, we’ve conducted a new round of surveys to make these ratings as up-to-date as possible.

In January, the top five companies as rated by their users were Complete Campaigns.com, ActBlue, Democracy in Action, NGP Software, and GetActive. Since then GetActive was acquired by Convio, which already changes the standings. But our new round of survey also changes things a bit.

Complete Campaigns and ActBlue still occupy the #1 and #2 spots, but Capitol Advantage is now at #3. Democracy in Action was bumped to #4, and NGP moved to #5.

Rounding out the top ten (with the former ranking in parentheses) were #6: CivicSpace (6); #7: Aristotle International (11); #8: Blue State Digital (7); #9: Convio (9); and #10: Kintera (12).

These new numbers are a combination of the previous survey, conducted in December 2006, and the new survey, which was conducted in March 2007. Respondents were asked to rate each company that they had worked with on the capacity and reliability of their software, the quality of their service, and the fairness of their pricing. There were a total of 186 responses to the December survey, and 210 responses to the March survey.

To be clear, this is not a scientific survey. It’s a poll of our readers, many of whom are political technology workers who have extensive experience and with these companies and knowledge of their software and pricing schemes. In addition, we asked each company to send the surveys to their customers.

As before, we are not rating companies that received fewer than 10 responses in either survey, so they appear at the bottom of the list, with the stars grayed out.

The full reviews and ratings are available to premium members of PdF; a premium membership costs only $25. You can go here to become a premium member.
