technoratiTechnology and the Internet are changing democracy in America. At a talk on Monday, Ellen Miller, Executive Director of the Sunlight Foundation (Andrew and Micah are advisers to the Sunlight Foundation), said "there is a fundamental cultural change that has to happen not only with government to embrace the notion of openness but even in the NGO sector to understand that 'of, by, and for the people' now has to become 'of, by, for, and open for the people' (at 2:15 in the video clip).
A great article in yesterday's Washington Post reinforced the importance of the battle for openness. Today that battle goes on in the form of Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests with a presumption that US government information is closed until requested to open. The article describes the effort required to overcome current instincts to keep government secret and the amazing things we learn when information is released. It describes how FOIA requests from the National Security Archive have revealed information, not only about Elvis' visit with Nixon, but also about troop levels in Iraq, genocide in Rwanda, and assassination in Latin America. Well worth the read.

After assassination of JFK by LBJ (Bush/Murchison/Hoover/et al)
the USG invaded Vietnam and was responsible for more "double veteran" atrocities than any other nation in human history
Then USG goes to the Arabian peninsula and continues the violence in the name of "War on Terror" (Ah, yes Iraqi 8 yr olds ?)
Meanwhile all (some of?) the American voters meet at prestigious parties in Washington (lobbyism) to make sure they belong to the boom in War/Oil/Drugs, eg Iran/Contra, Nugan Hand, etc
Then you run blogs that go nowhere to convince yourselves that you are really Democracy in Action!
Regime Change by armed revolution, shoot the Criminals (USG has about 400,000) and payback the price of your past murderous activity to the nations you have crippled with US-style fascism
or
continue as you are, ie DO Nothing but talk incessantly
and see Mother Nature destroy you all (one hopes)
as Tempests from the Storm God, even
in a new Iridium swathe, as Yucatan
You may detect latent anger in my words
Try dealing with the CIA's/ Protocols of Zion and its arrogant practitioners in Australia; and
with the CIA murdering PM Holt, smashing PM Whitlam and
promoting PM Howard (see Quisling)
If anger could turn you back from this type of action
the residents of any nation in contact with your "ambassadors"
would be palpable in YOUR lives, Yankee
then you could perhaps see some connection between Tellurian currents and a Tornado in Oklahoma (see www.handclow2012.com)
but you probably will not
