White House email follow-up

Last week, I wrote about how a federal appeals court had ruled to preserve backup tapes full of internal emails from the Bush White House.

Of course, the White House's Office of Administration has had email discussions about the inadequacy of that very email system. In an effort to determine why the system has been so poorly maintained, a separate lawsuit sought to release internal emails pertaining to the email fiasco. On Friday, a federal appeals court ruled in favor of the White House, saying that requiring the Office of Administration to disclose internal communications would send us "down the slippery slope" of impinging on presidential power.

So while last Monday's ruling gave the public a right to see internal White House emails, Friday's made an exemption for internal operations. Then there's the whole Blackberry thing...
